Q: I am a literacy coach providing consultation and training through a company that I am an independent contractor. What permits do I need?
A: You will need an L.L.C, a federal id number and a business license.
The reason that you will need an L.L.C. is to protect yourself from personal civil and financial liability. On the other hand, as soon as you register the business name as an L.L.C, the business name will be legally register in WI. Let's say the business name is called "Master coaching, LLC
". You will receive a certificate with filed number on it. In fact, you will receive an L.L.C agreement as well indicating that you are the business owner 100% business owner. Also, you will need a Federal Id Number, the Federal Id number(EIN), is like a SSN for the LLC
, and one of the Federal id number is one of the requirements to open a business account as well under the LLC
. Finally, you will need a business license. The business license is required by all business. It is a type of permission to do business that includes a payment flat of annual business tax.
